Mentoring to get insights about how the New-U Clothing Swap Shop works, get feedback on your idea, or discuss a challenge related to setting up or running a clothes swap shop. Come with a set of questions prepared to get the most out of your time.
Hi, I am Sue Buffin the CEO and Founder of New-U in Norwich.
New-U is a unique boutique style shop in central Norwich, offering quality pre-loved clothing and accessories for the whole family. New-U is a registered charity with two primary aims: To support a sustainable approach to fashion and support unemployed young people.
After working for many years in the NHS, I was looking for a new challenge and took a key role with the Prince’s Trust in 2015 helping young people into work. Recognising a gap in provision for those needing a safe and flexible working environment to gain confidence and skills, and having the vision to combine this with my passion for up-cycling and reducing textile waste resulted in New-U being formed as an independent charity in 2018. I’m determined to maintain the unique combination of addressing social mobility and textile waste reduction.
You are welcome to ask me any questions about how New-U works and I am happy to give feedback on your ideas or challenges of starting or developing a clothing swap shop.
I’m particularly interested in supporting other community organizations or charities who want to add a clothing swap shop to their existing offer.
I’d love to help you with:
Understanding how New-U works and the business model behind it
Exploring what it takes to run a clothing swap shop
Understanding the challenges of clothes swapping
Working with young people
